51st Abdul Jabbar Trophy: Isipathana Crushes Thurstan 24-5

🔊

Isipathana College defeated their longtime rivals Thurstan College 24-5 to claim the 51st Abdul Jabbar Trophy at Havelock Park yesterday (1).

Rismy Jafrad opened the scoring in the 10th minute and added a second converted try five minutes later, giving Pathana a 12-0 lead at halftime. Despite starting as underdogs, Thurstan showed promise early on, creating several scoring opportunities, but handling errors prevented them from capitalizing.

The second half began with a flourish from Keveen Irosh, whose converted try showcased Pathana’s forward power. Jafrad completed his hat-trick shortly before the 50-minute mark. Thurstan finally got on the board with a try from Rasanjana Nirmal, but it wasn’t enough to challenge the red-hot favourites.

Final Score: Isipathana College 24 (4T, 2C) – Thurstan College 5 (1T)
