The Dialog Schools Rugby League 2025, organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA), will kick off on June 6 with four exciting matches scheduled for the opening day. This year’s league promises to be a thrilling season of school rugby with 80 schools from around the country taking part in various divisions.
In the top tier, Division 1 Segment A, 18 of Sri Lanka’s strongest rugby-playing schools will compete in three groups. All 16 schools that played in this division last year will continue in the same segment for 2025. They will be joined by Mahanama College and Ananda College, who were promoted after finishing first and second respectively in the final standings of Segment B in 2024.
Defending champions St. Peter’s College, who secured back-to-back league titles in 2023 and 2024, will look to continue their dominance. Isipathana College, meanwhile, fresh from their
hard-fought victory over Trinity College in the final of the Dialog Schools Rugby Knockouts 2025 for the President’s Trophy, will be eager to claim the league title this year.Isipathana were runners up lasr year with Royal College ending up third and Trinity College fourth
A total of 80 schools will participate in the Dialog Schools Rugby League 2025 across three divisions. Division 1 Segment A will feature 18 schools divided into three groups. Division 1 Segment B will have 15 schools in five groups, while Division 1 Segment C will include 12 schools competing in four groups. Division 2 will consist of 12 schools placed in four groups, and Division 3 will see 23 schools battling it out across seven groups. Each school in Division 1 Segment A will play a total of nine league matches during the season at groups, and Division 3 will see 23 schools battling it out across seven groups.
