UUDS Tuskers emerged as standout performers at the opening leg of the SLR Sevens Series 2026, held at Longdon Place.
The team, owned by former Isipathanian Manoj Bogoda, comprises former Sri Lankan internationals based in the United Arab Emirates along with skilled Fijian players. They delivered an impressive start to the tournament, registering convincing wins over CH&FC (33-7) and Sri Lions (43-0).
Defending champions CR&FC maintained their strong form, remaining unbeaten with victories against Air Force and Navy. Havelocks secured a win over Police but were held to a 12-all draw by Army in a closely contested encounter. CH&FC, Police, and Navy each recorded one win in the Men’s Main event.
The Provincial competition produced varied results, with no clear leader emerging. Western Warriors recorded the largest margin of victory, defeating North Central Eagles 67-0, while North Central Blacks also delivered a dominant 63-0 win against the same opposition.
The first leg concludes today, with the second leg of the tournament scheduled to take place next weekend at the Racecourse Ground.
