The three-day format, introduced only last year, saw Thurstan—under the leadership of Vihas Thewmika—secure a commanding 10-wicket victory.
For this year’s encounter, Yovun Shilpa will captain Thurstan, while Maleesha Sandaruwan leads Isipathana. The two sides have already faced each other in limited-overs matches this season, sharing honours. Isipathana claimed the T20 fixture by eight wickets to win the Priya Paranawithana Challenge Trophy, while Thurstan responded with a 59-run victory in the one-day match to lift the W.A. de Silva Memorial Trophy. Both games were held at the P. Sara Oval.
With the upcoming three-day clash scheduled at the SSC Grounds, another closely fought battle is anticipated.
The match continues to celebrate a rich tradition of sportsmanship and rivalry, under the guidance of principals Pramuditha Wickramasinghe of Thurstan and Dharshana Udawattage of Isipathana.
George Steuart Health headlines the event as title sponsor, supported by Abans, Elephant House, Dialog, and Papare.
