Isipathana College, Colombo delivered an emphatic performance to defeat St. Anthony’s College, Katugastota 43–14 (three goals, four tries to two goals) in their opening fixture of the Dialog Schools Under-19 League Rugby Tournament at Havelock Park yesterday. They held a 19–7 advantage at halftime.
From the outset, Isipathana asserted dominance, with their powerful forwards and swift backline applying sustained pressure on the Antonians. They opened the scoring with a well-executed try and quickly followed up with another to establish early control.
St. Anthony’s responded with determination, crossing over for two converted tries. However, they struggled to keep up with the intensity and structure of the Green Shirts. By the break, Isipathana had taken firm command, leading 19–7 after dictating both possession and territory.
After the restart, Isipathana raised their level further, adding tries with confidence and precision. Their attack remained sharp and cohesive, while a disciplined defence shut down any hopes of an Anthony’s resurgence.
Although the Katugastota side displayed commendable fighting spirit, inconsistency hindered their progress as Isipathana continued to dominate proceedings on both sides of the ball.

In the end, Isipathana’s clinical finishing and cohesive teamwork secured a convincing 43–14 victory, marking an impressive start to their league campaign.
