St. Peter’s College and Kingswood College will raise the curtain in the 2014 inter-school rugby season when they clash in the first match of the newly formatted League on Thursday March 20 at the CR and FC ground Longden Place in Colombo.Twelve teams will contest the new League in two groups. Defending champs Dharmaraja College, St. Peter’s College, S. Thomas’ College, Science College, St. Anthony’s College and Kingswood College are in one group while Trinity College, Wesley College, Royal College, Isipathana College, St. Joseph’s College and DS Senanayake College are in the other group.

At the end of the first round, the top four teams in one group will play against the top four teams in the other group.The team with the highest points aggregate from the nine matches played will be declared the League winner.The two teams in each group that fail to qualify for the second round will play against four other teams picked from the B and C groups for the Plate.
The top four teams in the Plate will be promoted to play in the following year’s 12-team League.S. Thomas’ College who won the B division title last year were promoted to this year’s A division League along with DS Senanayake who ended runners-up.

Trinity vs DS Senanayake at Pallekele
March 23: Dharmaraja vs S. Thomas’ at Bogambara
Science vs St. Anthony’s at Mount Lavinia
Isipathana vs Royal at Longden Place
