The Road to Glory Begins

The 2026 schools rugby season kicks off with one of the most prestigious tournaments in Sri Lankan school rugby  the Dialog Schools Rugby Knockouts  President’s Trophy. Returning to the competition as the defending champions, the Green Machine is ready to begin another campaign.

First introduced in 1985, the President’s Trophy Knockout Tournament has grown into one of the most anticipated events in the schools rugby calendar, bringing together the nation’s top teams in a high-intensity knockout format.

Across 39 editions of the tournament, Isipathana College has built an unmatched legacy. The Green Machine stands as the most successful team in the competition’s history, having reached an incredible 26 finals, winning the title 13 times and finishing as runners-up on 13 occasions.

This year’s tournament once again features the top 16 teams from last season, with the action beginning from the Pre-Quarter Final stage.

The defending champions will begin their title defense against Science College, Mount Lavinia.
