Trinity College stamped their class at the Central Province Rugby Football Union (CPRFU)-organized Under-16 10-a-side rugby tournament when they edged out Isipathana College 12-07 in the Cup final, which concluded at the Trinity College Rugby Stadium in Pallekele on Sunday.

At the short breather, it was Isipathana who led 07-00.

Both teams dished out exceptional rugby, and the ball handling was top-notch. Trinity made a few mistakes, but their defence held strong until the 10th minute. While they were on the attack, the Green Shirts turned over the ball and scored under the posts, covering nearly 70 metres on the stroke of halftime.

After the turnaround, Trinity, who never gave up, fought back and scored two tries to seal the game in this inaugural tournament on offer by CPRFU.

Trinity was led by Udan Wijekoon, with Priyantha Gunaratne as their Head Coach.

Nisala Perera of Trinity was named Player of the final.

Meanwhile, Zahira accounted for the Plate beating S. Thomas’ College 27-10, while the Bowl encounter was won by Wesley College, beating D.S. Senanayake College 12-5.

In a home town final, Sylvester’s College beat Dharmaraja College 07–05 to win the Shield encounter.

This event was organised by CPRFU with Sri Lanka Rugby’s support and Nippon Paint as the title sponsor.
