Isipathana College Unveils Sponsors and New Leadership for 2026 Rugby Season

Isipathana College officially unveiled its rugby sponsors for the 2026 Inter-Schools season at a felicitation ceremony held in Colombo, marking an important moment in the upcoming rugby calendar. The event brought together sponsors, stakeholders, and alumni to honour the rich legacy of the team while looking ahead to its future ambitions.

A major highlight for the 2026 season is the appointment of Sanath Martis as Head Coach, signaling a meaningful homecoming. A former national player and one of the most respected figures in school rugby, Martis returns with a wealth of experience, strong leadership, and a clear vision to take the team to greater heights.

Further strengthening the coaching staff, former Fiji international Saimoni Rokini has been named Consultant. His expertise in both 15s and 7s formats is expected to add significant value to the team’s preparation and performance.

The 2026 Isipathana squad will be captained by Shaakib Zumri, with Nimatha Sandeepa and Abdul Azeez serving as Vice-Captains, forming a solid leadership group for the season ahead.

Chairman of the Rugby Management and Development Committee, Kalum Rodrigo, mentioned that the continued success of Isipathana Rugby is built on the dedication of its players, coaches, administrators, sponsors, and loyal supporters.
